o modi iz ukrajine nisam znala baš ništa. i onda se iznenadih kad otkrih dzhus. dzhus je prezime kreatorke irine. džus! ono što sam prvo uočila kod njenih kreacija je odsustvo dugmadi (koje ich ne ljubim, osim kad baš ne može bez njih, a dzhus poput amiša pokazuje da se može bez njih i danas, u 21. veku) i arhitektonski pristup. vidim i sve ono što još ljubim u modi: asketski utilitarizam i monohromatski minimalizam. (reči koje samo zvuče hladno) i trake i tračice! obožavam ih. odvezane više nego svezane. irina stvara ne samo odeću nego i celokupan koncept. i taj nedvosmislen uticaj istoka… a istok ne kaže sve od početka do kraja, istok je tajnovit…

sa ponosom ističe da je njen brand vegetarian-friendly. i da stvara za nonkomformiste u potrazi za svojim unutrašnjim svetom. slowfashion

fotografije u ovom postu su iz njene SS16 kolekcije “pro forma”, inspirisane uniformama. kolekcija koja slavi individualnost, eto može da bude inspirasana uniformama.

“pro forma”, naravno, nije jedina njena kolekcija, prosto ostaviću prostora i za neki naredni post o njenom radu. kupljena sam!

the style of my pieces is quite utilitarian and brutalistic. i was brought up in kiev, a city with vast soviet heritage: factories and monuments, architecture and social customs – all glorifying industrialisation, and that environment has influenced my creative mind crucially. every time i see an abandoned plant or a former ceremonial palace i can feel the powerful spirit of the bygone epoch, sublime and oppressive at the same time.

however, my favourite source of inspiration has much deeper historical roots. it is an orthodox christian monastery called kiev pechersk lavra. what makes it truly phenomenal are spontaneously mummified ancient saints, buried in glass coffins along man-made underground caves. being literally a stronghold of spirituality, lavra is filled with very powerful energy and at the same time, it picturesquely displays the grotesque side of religion as such.

actually, i’m not a big fan of the fashion world.  i mean i was never enchanted with the catwalk glamour and never did i worship the fashion icons.  what i have always aspired to was to do with design as such.  i’m totally into creating innovative structures and unusual aesthetics of the form.  but sure, the idea comes first. DZHUS pieces are meant to become the perfect match for a nonconformist intellectual’s inner world, thus, the design concepts are a visual key to it. (irina dzhus) 

i’m a big fan of early margiela, yamamoto and miyake. now that the legendary avant-garde fashion houses have become far more commercial, i enjoy discovering new designers with revolutionary ideas. as regards my favorite creatives ever, i worship the heritage left by the artist hieronymus bosch, ukrainian writer nikolai gogol and soviet writer daniel harms.
